Excitement for the eighth Harry Potter story, The Cursed Child, is at an all-time high, previews of the stage play having just begun and images of the cast in costume being released.

Unfortunately, touts are taking advantage of fans, reselling tickets for inflated prices on websites such as Viagogo and Stubhub.

Previously, we reported that tickets were selling for £2,200, yet, even with extended dates and further ticket releases, the Evening Standard are reporting how tickets are still selling for up to £2,000.

Tickets for the main show were sold for as little as £15 originally, while those in better positions were being advertised for £130.

A previous statement from Viagogo noted: "While a seller can list a ticket at any price he likes, tickets listed at crazy prices rarely sell. As an event approaches, ticket prices often drop substantially."

Written by playwright Jack Thorne in collaboration with JK Rowling, the play will be directed by John Tiffany and is split into two instalments.

Recently, Rowling branded critics of Noma Dumezweni's Hermione “a bunch of racists.” She also issued a statement asking fans not to spoil Harry Potter and the Cursed Child for those who haven’t seen it.

The sold-out show runs until May 2017.
