From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Fan excitement has hit fever pitch thanks to some newly released photographs, giving us a first look at the Potter family as portrayed by Jamie Parker (Harry), Poppy Miller (Ginny) and Sam Clemmett (their son, Albus).
Speaking about the transformation of Parker into the titular character, author JK Rowling told Pottermore: “He simply is Harry now. There's a kind of relief in watching him, he gets it so right.”
Parker said of his character’s attire: “He’s wearing a suit because he’s a Ministry man, but he’s not just a bloke in a suit, that’s way too anonymous. And it sounds strange but we talked around a lot of different suits, because there are suits and suits, and a lot of them we put on and we went ‘Mmm it’s just not right’.
“With all the character’s costumes, we want them to be instantly familiar when people see them, so that people feel like the story’s safe in our hands, and that we’re taking that responsibility seriously.”
Of course, Parker has the iconic lightning scar on his forehead, while Poppy Miller dons Ginny’s iconic red hair. Meanwhile, Rowling added very little detail about Albus, but the actor, Clemmett, did say his robes were hand-me-downs from his character's older brother, James.
The story of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will be told in two parts, the scripts of both soon to be made available in book form. The story is not a prequel but is set 19 years after the events of The Deathly Hallows - Read everything we know about the play, here.
