Your support makes all the difference.On Friday night, Vice President-elect Mike Pence attending a showing of the hit broadway show Hamilton. Audience members booed him on arrival while leading cast member Brandon Victor Dixon decided to address Pence directly after the curtain call.
Dixon said in his address: “We are the diverse America that are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents. Or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights.”
Soon after, the President-elect himself - Donald Trump - decided to get involved, Tweeting about how the cast harassed his VP and demanding an apology.
Unfortunately, one Trump supporter decided to take matters into their own hands, interrupting the Saturday performance of Hamilton. According to BroadwayWorld, an audience member seated in the Balcony of the Chicago theatre shouted “We won! You Lost! Get over it! F*ck you!" during the number "Dear Theodosia.”
The publication detailed how the person was angered by the line "immigrants, we get the job done,” enraged after the audience cheered. Members of staff at the theatre escorted the person out after a two-minute struggle.
Other members of the audience Tweeted about the incident, with one person writing: “I'm at a Hamilton showing in Chicago and this Trump supporter in the middle of the show started screaming and ranting.”
After Trump Tweeted about the incident, #BoycottHamilton began trending on Twitter. Most of the Tweets, however, were pleading with those no longer attending the show to sell their tickets on.
