Barry Weissler, producer of the hit show that has grossed £120m in London, hinted that a future revival was possible. Chicago opened in 1997 with the entire Broadway cast flying over to "blow the roof off" the Adelphi Theatre. Weissler, who has produced the show with his wife, Fran, in New York, London and around the world, said it was "doing OK but I prefer going out with our heads held high".
Its popularity was boosted by a 2002 film adaptation and celebrity performers including Denise Van Outen, pictured, and David Hasselhoff.
