Your support makes all the difference.Music: I play music a lot while I'm working in the studio. It's often to give a special feeling or energy with movement. Recently, I've been listening to Astor Piazzolla pieces, played by a brilliant young violinist, Oscar Bohorquez. Before that I was listening to a lot of music by Eric Satie played by Jean-Yves Thibaudet and Dustin Gledhill, and new pieces by the composer Andy Cowton, who I have been working with for many years. Tom Waits (below) is always a favourite, as are Nick Cave, Barry Adamson and Muse. I recently choreographed for a video directed by Warren Du Preez and Nick Thornton Jones for the band UNKLE and have since been listening to a lot of their work, too.
Dance: I went to the UK Dance Challenge for schools and community groups just recently. There were some great performers and it was a joy to see some of the up-and-coming talent. Quite inspiring!
Books: 'Everything Is Connected' by Daniel Barenboim, which draws parallels between life and music. I found it inspiring. I've also just read 'The Importance of Being Ernest' by Oscar Wilde, and 'Married Love' by Marie Carmichael Stopes. I'm currently reading 'The Slap' by Christos Tsiolkas.
Films: I watch DVDs more often and recently saw Pedro Almodovar's 'Broken Embraces', which was a gem.
Television: I've been watching back series of 'Skins' and 'Weeds' – but I still miss 'Frasier' and 'Seinfeld'. I also caught up with BBC2's 'Beautiful Minds' – a series about the mysterious process of scientific discoveries and the people who make them.
