Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Ballet: I went to see the Royal Ballet's 'Giselle' at the Royal Opera House. My fiancé, Thiago Soares, was playing Count Albrecht with Mara Galeazzi as Giselle. It was a wonderful performance. I loved every minute of it. The whole company was brilliant and the production is fantastic in every way. It's one of my favourites to watch and dance.

Film: 'The King's Speech' was a great film. It is so beautiful and I loved all the actors in it. It was very inspiring. I also saw Woody Allen's 'You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger' (below). I love a lot of his films, including 'Small Time Crooks' and 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona'.

Books: I'm reading Paul Auster's 'The New York Trilogy'. I love his writing and I can never put one of his books down once I've started it. My brother Sebastian, who lives in Argentina and is always reading, bought me 'In the Country of Last Things' and since then I've became a big fan of his writing.

Television: I love to get home and relax after work by watching American TV series like 'Grey's Anatomy', 'Damages' and 'Desperate Housewives'. 'Friends' is also a very special series for me. When I first arrived in London I didn't speak a word of English and I started renting all the videos of 'Friends' from a Blockbuster close to my flat. It helped me to learn English at the time. And I watch a lot of the cookery programmes too. I am a terrible cook so I always admire these amazing chefs like Jamie Oliver.

Music: My iPod is always with me when I travel; in my dressing room, when I warm up and before a performance or during a rehearsal. I like listening to rock, classical and Latin American music as well as movie soundtracks.
