Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.WITH LITTLE media hullabaloo, Morcheeba managed to spend almost six months in the album charts and get a gold disc for the eclectic and maverick beats of the Big Calm album. They've also tightened up extremely well as a live act, and Skye Edwards' vocals get better all the time, as with her rendition of Gershwin's "Summertime", a forthcoming single taken from the Red, Hot and Rhapsody benefit album for AIDS charities. Another great voice on show is support act and British R&B-scene queen, Beverley Knight.

The current tour by socialist songwriter Billy Bragg (right) sees him draw most of his material from the recent and wonderful Mermaid Avenue album of songs written by the highly politicised American folkie Woody Guthrie. There will also be room for a few of Bragg's own standards, and a plug for the GMB union's campaign to extend the proposed minimum wage to young workers. A good undercard features Eliza Carthy and Hefner.
