Darting from Oscar Wilde's schooldays ("I want to be a pop idol") through Seventies London to a fictionalised Orwellian Eighties, Todd Haynes's film emerges as a unique and unclassifiable flight of fancy; a thing dappled with genius from top to tail.

Steven Soderbergh's Out of Sight marks a rousing return to form from the wayward Sex, Lies and Videotape wonderkid, customising Elmore Leonard's source novel into a high-fuelled con-on-the-run thriller. George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez headline as the escaped crim and his US marshal hostage.
