Your support makes all the difference.The sun stopped shining again for Eldorado last week when it was voted Worst Show on TV and also Biggest Disappointment of 1992. The two accolades, probably the first awards the show has won since its inception last year, were bestowed on the soap by readers of TV Quick and TV Weekly magazines.
There was more bad news for GMTV when Lis Howell, director of programmes, left the breakfast television station. The 'F-factor', which has hardly been out of the tabloids and had previously stood for 'fanciability', suddenly stood for 'Fired', except for in the Sun, where the 'E-factor' was created, 'E' standing, of course, for 'elbow'. Elsewhere in the much-covered world of breakfast TV, The Big Breakfast's Chris Evans made headlines with the news that he is to host a three-hour Saturday morning show on Virgin Radio, and Paula Yates (also Big Breakfast) choked on her cornflakes when John Altman (EastEnders bad boy Nick Cotton) pulled out a toy gun on her.
Other headlines news: the star of the Renault Clio advertisements hasn't passed her driving test and Baroness Thatcher is Noel Edmonds' ideal gunge-tank victim.
