Sun 1.10pm ITV Everyman: The Invisible Men Fly-on-the-wall - or rather in the handbag - camera goes out on the streets in the company of a quartet of "invisible'' beggars. Network First: The Man who Saved Animals Profile of the conservationist Richard Leakey and his campaign to protect the world's endangered species. Tue 10.40pm ITV Drama Ghosts: I'll be Watching You A jailbird has a near-death experience after being stabbed and finds that he can project his spirit out to haunt the people he thinks deserve it. Heroes and Villains Jennifer Saunders playing it almost straight as Lady Hester Stanhope, eccentric regency voyager and amatory adventuress. Thur 9.30pm BBC1

The Rover Aphra Behn's comedy about a trio of Spanish sisters who adopt disguise to search for husbands, kicks off a short series of plays about wild women. Sun 7.30pm R3

Film Empire of the Sun J G Ballard's bestselling memoirs of a childhood shattered by the Japanese invasion of Shanghai, brought to the screen by Steven Spielberg. Visually stunning. Sat 10pm BBC2

Black Rain New York cop Michael Douglas experiences culture clash with a vengeance when he's sent on a trip to Osaka with partner Andy Garcia. Directed by Ridley Scott, which means that whatever else you object to you'll love the way it looks. Tue 9.30pmBBC1

84 Charing Cross Road American writer Anne Bancroft strikes up a 20-year correspondence with English bookseller Anthony Hopkins. Surprisingly engaging, despite its tendency to tip into wasn't-everything-lovely-in-the-old-days nostalgia. Thur 2.15pm BBC1

Music L'Elisir d'Amore Donizetti's magical extravaganza live from the Metropolitan Opera, with Ruth Ann Swenson as Adina, Jerry Hadley as Nemorino, Lucio Gallo as Belcore and Yvonne Gonzales as Giannetta. Sat 6.30pm R3
