Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The Eagle

159 Farringdon Rd, London EC1 (0171-833 2674)

One of London's first Great Food Pubs, and still one of the best, though sometimes overwhelmed by media folk.

The Queen's

49 Regents Park Rd, London NW1 (0171-586 0408)

Award-winning food and atmosphere for the refined pubbers of Chalk Farm.

The Bellevue

1 Clapham Common South Side, London SW4 (0171-498 9473)

This Clapham-trendy hangout provides vast portions of generally good modern, eclectic food.

The Ship

41 Jew's Row, London SW18 (0181-870 9667)

Terrific barbies in summer, very acceptable restaurant-style food the rest of the year. Advisable to book.

Mason's Arms

169 Battersea Park Rd, SW8 (0171-622 2007)

Hearty ambience, good food on the whole. Book first, though this won't guarantee a seat.

The Front Page

35 Old Church St, London SW3 (0171-352 0648)

Early gastropub that still makes an effort. Wood floor, large tables, upper- crust clientele.
