Following a mysterious image of its logo in a seemingly Western design it posted over the weekend, game developer Rockstar has followed up with a design all but confirming a sequel to Red Dead Redemption.

The post, which has been retweeted 10,000 times in 10 minutes, shows what is unmistakably a group of cowboys against a thick, red sky.

This would be some abominable trolling if it turned out not to be a sequel to the beloved game, though no official details have yet been released. Even the press release on Rockstar's Newswire simply shows the image.

Fans were worried that this hype might all amount to simply some sort of remake, but given that Rockstar has also completely overhauled its site around the image, we can safely assume it's a big and brand new chunk of gaming the developer is working on.

A Red Dead sequel has been craved for a long time (the original came out in 2010), though it remains to be seen how much of a sequel it is. It's very possible that instead of going down the obvious Red Dead Redemption: Reloaded (or something) route, Rockstar will instead reinvent the franchise for the new generation of consoles.

Back in April, a screen grab showing what purports to be the map for the new game circulated, though, if it is genuine, it doesn't look remotely finished.

We'll update this story as and when new details drop.
