Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The House Our Youth 2000 campaign run by the NCH Action for Children charity was launched on Monday at the Ministry of Sound to celebrate the release of the Streetwise triple album.

At least pounds 4.15 from the sale of each CD goes to the charity. Artists have donated their work free and the track listing reads like an eclectic who's who of the dance world.

Just some of the people on this excellent and diverse album are Fatboy Slim, Boy George and Mica Paris (above), Moby, Texas, ADF, Howie B, Morcheeba and St Etienne.

Still on a charity theme, the Mobo organisation has announced the recording by a cast of some of the UK's best R'n'B acts of the McFadden & Whitehead classic "Ain't No Stoppin Us Now" in aid of the Sickle Cell Anemia charity. Among those featured on the single, which will be released on 14 November, are Beverley Knight, Mica Paris (above) and Another Level.

Christmas is coming and you can support the music industry in its quest for yuletide millions. This year there are Christmas singles slated for release from Robbie Williams, Boyzone, Aqua, Spice Girls and B*Witched.

Meanwhile, there's a mass of greatest hits albums, from Paul Weller, U2 and George Michael, as well as that Oasis B-sides CD (see p43). But as a gift, why not choose some new music? Recommended are Gomez and Wheat for rock types and Morcheeba and Jurassic 5 for those who like beats.
