Ice cream can be eaten in or taken away at this new retail outlet next to the Italian restaurant. A weekly changing selection of less typical flavours will supplement Cafi Milan's permanent menu of more usual ones.

This new City restaurant (open for lunch and dinner, Monday to Friday), serves a mouthwatering combination of caramelised granny smiths with Guinness ice cream and glazed hazelnuts for pounds 8.

Sonnys

94 Church Road, Barnes, London SW13 (0181-748 0393)

This hugely popular local restaurant serves liquorice ice cream with Tia Maria and caramel sauce for pounds 4.50

Simply Heathcotes

Jacksons Rd, Deansgate, Manchester (0161-835 3536)

Simply Heathcotes started off with Boddingtons ice cream, but has since changed breweries. Next year they're introducing a Manchester Smoothie ice cream, a beer parfait made for Thwaites Manchester Smoothie.
