The photograph in Network+ (6 January) of schoolgirls looking up at their computer screens is an excellent example of how not to view a video display unit.
Our visual system is programmed to view near objects in a downwards, rather than upwards or even in a straight-ahead, direction. If tower CPU cases were used instead of desktop units, the screen would be placed in the visually and ergonomically more comfortable position directly on the desk. The CPU could be placed alongside or on the floor, where it could still be locked for security.
