Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. On April 27, the US record labels release a mix of recordings from some stars of the 1980s and 90s, notably Courtney Love, who is back with a new version of Hole and the same attitude. Plus Ukraine import Gogol Bordello returns to the studio.
Hole, Nobody's Daughter
Perhaps better known as Nirvana lead singer Kurt Cobain's wife, or for her "train wreck" lifestyle, Courtney Love has formed a whole new Hole band for its first record in more than a decade - and her return to recording since a solo effort in 2004. The 11 tracks on Mercury Records are typical of her act's hard-edged rock. Produced by Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan and Linda Perry (songwriter for P!nk, Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera), the collection leads with "Skinny Little Bitch."

Gogol Bordello, Trans-Continental Hustle
Produced by Def Jam co-founder Rick Rubin for American Recordings, this nine-piece gypsy punk rock act, fronted by the hyper-kinetic Ukrainian-born Eugene Hutz, offers a dozen genre-bending tunes, including ska, metal, rap, and even Brazilian influences. This fifth studio album follows last year's live collection which tried to capture their wild shows.
