Album: These New Puritans, Hidden (Angular)

These New Puritans come with a manifesto of sorts, declaring themselves "anti-experimental, anti-distortion, anti-avant garde", like an audio wing of the Stuckists.

By most people's understanding of the term, however, avant garde is exactly what they are. The second album from the Southend quartet combines beats from the age of dubstep with instrumentation from the age of Cromwell. Hidden is a dark, deliciously disorienting work which positions TNP as possibly our most intellectually challenging group since British Sea Power.
