It's a smart move: not only does Campbell capture the skittish nature of her cajun and bluegrass playing with passion, he's also splendid himself throughout, whether echoing her fiddle line with pedal steel on "You're Still Driving That Truck", or peeling off sparkling Chet Atkins-style lead guitar on "The Wrong Side". The narrow range of Nevins's voice limits its character somewhat, but is still compelling when combined with her mountain fiddle on a song such as "Wood and Stone", whose crisp swamp-funk country backbeat brings pep to its message of tradition and heritage ("Wood and stone, house and home, is what drives every family tree").
