Neil Young is in dog-like, grunge, anti-consumerist, apocalyptic, preach mode, with lardy backbeat and durrr-brain chord changes nurdled through amps cranked to 11.
You pays your money and you go with Neil's mood swing. "Just singing a song won't change the world," he sings, with a view to changing the world. And then, "Cough up the bucks!/ Where did all the money go?" – short-order sardonicism without grace or wit; rock'n'roll without joy. The sound of a man running out of road.
