From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Weezer's latest album, Raditude, features the band's song "Love is the Answer" in a version the musicians reworked with their friends Ananda and Amrita Zen. Inspired by the collaboration, the band is now inviting fans to submit their own version of the track by March 9 for a chance to be included on an official collaboration and create a song with lead singer Rivers Cuomo.

Posted on the Indaba Music website are all the "stems" for the song - .wav files of the lead vocals, keys, drums, etc. - to help fans rework the track as a remix or cover. According to the announcement, the band hopes to "continue spreading the message of the song. ... Hopefully by the end of this contest there will be inspiring interpretations of the song in different languages from different countries with different styles but all relaying the meaning of the song." The band mentions ska, reggae, hip-hop, dance, trance, death metal, and scream-o as some of the endless directions the new versions might take.

Weezer will release some hand-picked submissions on an official compilation, paying selected acts appropriate royalties for their participation. One winner, says the band, will also be chosen to create a new song with Rivers Cuomo.

Submissions are due by March 9 at 5:00pm EST.
