Beyoncé stole the show at this year’s VMAs with a 15 minute whistle-stop performance of her entire self-titled album.

On the stage where she announced her pregnancy three years ago, the Texan singer performed a stellar 15-minute medley that saw her dance in front of a giant neon ‘Feminist’ sign, which has since drawn criticism on Twitter.

Wearing a sparkly leotard throughout the performance, Beyoncé’s set had the audience – including Katy Perry – on its feet, with the crowd chanting “we love Bey, we love Bey” at the end.

The artist led the nominations at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards with eight nods, a reflection on her dedication to the music video format that saw her “visual album” BEYONCE last year.

The singer joined Jay Z and their daughter Blue Ivy, who both presented the singer with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award for lifetime achievement.

Blue Ivy cheered “go mummy” into the microphone, momentarily stealing Beyoncé's limelight, before Jay Z called the singer “the greatest living entertainer” as he presented her with the award.

A breathless Beyoncé said: “I have nothing to say, but I’m filled with so much gratitude. I just thank God for this moment, I love y’all so much.

“Little Blue I love you, my beloved I love you, my fans I love you, MTV I love you, goodnight.”
