Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Beyonce has described her new self-titled video album as one of the most "brave" things she has ever done in her life at a release party in New York.

Speaking at the album launch party she said: "This is a project I didn't think was possible. I've never done anything so brave in my life and the amount of personal growth from this project is unlike anything I've ever done."

"I took all my insecurities, all of my doubts, all of my fears and everything I've learned I applied it into this project. It's interesting how motherhood changes you and how it changes your perspective on life."

She went on to say: "I took all the things I wanted to change about myself and all the things I wanted to share and I put it into this record. I'm very proud of it but more than the music, I'm proud of myself as a woman for taking the risks.

"The biggest message is owning your imperfections and all the things that make you interesting because I refuse to allow anybody to put me in someone's box."
