Keep Me Singing will be released on 30 September and will serve as Morrison's 36th studio record.
He spoke to novelist Ian Rankin (Rebus) in an interview surrounding the release and you can watch the exclusive video, which also includes live performances of track from the record, below.
Reflecting upon his previous releases, Morrison - who states he's an artist who likes to evolve - tells Rankin: "Well, you're competing against what you've done previously."
Morrison's most famous albums include Astral Weeks and Moondance. He explains how he prefers to record his new records the old-fashioned way as opposed to digitally.
"It actually takes much longer working with digital and computers because the new kids on the block don't really understand about live recording," he says. "In fact, it freaks them out."
The video also shows the musician, known for playing the harmonica and saxophone, musing upon the art of live performance.
"Performing is acting - it's a bit like if you're in a theatre; what I'm doing is basically a form of psychodrama but actually through music."
Keep Me Singing is released on 30 September.
