Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Saturdays singer Frankie Sandford is expecting a baby with footballer fiance Wayne Bridge, she announced today.
The 24-year-old revealed the news on Twitter - the same way she told fans of her engagement to the Manchester City footballer less than a month ago.
She wrote: "Some big news from me today! Wayne and I are having a baby. We are both SO happy and can't wait for his or her arrival!"
Sandford is the latest member of the girl group, which recently scored their first number one with "What About Us" earlier this year, to become pregnant.
Bandmate Rochelle Humes, 23, is due to have her first child with JLS member Marvin Humes soon while Una Healy, 31, is mother to one-year-old Aoife.
Healy was one of the first to congratulate Sandford, writing on Twitter: "So happy and excited for our FrankieTheSats and Wayne's baby news!! X."
Sandford had tweeted a photo of herself with Bridge, currently on loan to Brighton and Hove Albion, in early April showing off a new diamond ring with the caption: "Guess what?!!!!".
The singer, who rose to fame in the band S Club Juniors, has not said when the baby - her first - is due.
