Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Glasgow quartet, comprising Sam McTrusty, Barry McKenna, Ross McNae and Craig Neale, will play 11 gigs across the UK, including London’s Roundhouse on 3 November.
Other cities will include Aberdeen, Newcastle, Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds, Birmingham, Cardiff, Southampton and Cambridge throughout October and November.
Fans have taken to social media to share their excitement at the news, despite disappointment that an Irish date is not included.
The “Free” singers performed their new single “Brothers and Sisters” and a cover of Sia's "Chandelier" on Radio 1's Live Lounge earlier today, ahead of their forthcoming album Great Divide, due for release on 18 August.
Twin Atlantic are lined up to play Reading & Leeds the weekend after the record hits stores.
The four-piece have built a solid reputation for live shows, having played acclaimed sets at Glastonbury, Radio 1’s Big Weekend and T in the Park and supported Kings of Leon earlier this year.
Tickets for the new dates go on sale this Friday from 9am and are priced at £15 each.
