Don't go chasing windfalls: TLC will ride the wave of 90s R&B nostalgia
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.TLC have revealed plans to record a fifth and final album as a duo, 13 years after third member Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes died shortly after the release of the last LP '3D'.
T-Boz and Chilli are hoping to harness the nostalgia for 90s R&B and fund the album through Kickstarter, allowing them to "have complete creative control" over it.
Prizes for generous investors range from a PDF of a handwritten list of their favourite songs to a sleepover with Chilli herself in Atlanta.
"Our final album will stay true to the TLC sound, always confronting the real issues and life experiences that we all must face every single day, everywhere" the pair promise. "We write music that people relate to … timeless music. No matter the trends, we feel like our music is always relevant."
TLC won five Grammy awards and sold over 65 million records worldwide. Their career was cut short however when Lopes was killed in a car crash at the age of 30.
In celebration of the news, here are their top three jams:
