From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Black Keys will be playing this summer’s Glastonbury Festival, with a performance on Sunday 29 June.

The US blues rockers announced their appearance at Worthy Farm via a mailer including their summer tour dates, before Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe further confirmed the news.

Other acts set to perform so far include Arcade Fire, Dolly Parton, Lily Allen, Blondie, Disclosure, James Blake, Johnny Flynn and Foxes.

The Black Keys have already been confirmed to headline Latitude in July, alongside Two Door Cinema Club and Blur’s Damon Albarn.

The band’s eighth album, Turn Blue, is due for release on 13 May and follows their 2011 hit, El Camino. Danger Mouse has produced the new record along with frontman Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney.

Former boxer Mike Tyson first revealed details of the album on Twitter with a link to a teaser clip, during which a hypnotic speaker says: “I am inside you now. You can feel me. I will breathe life into your hopelessness. I will be your messiah, your God, your therapist, your lover, your mother, your father, and you are my son, and you will obey me.”

The first track from Turn Blue, “Fever”, was released on Monday.

“We are always trying to push ourselves when we make a record – not repeat our previous work but not abandon it either,” Carney told NME. “On this record, we let the songs breathe and explored moods, textures and sounds.”

The band have hinted at possible meanings for the title, including “a) suffocation, b) sadness, c) numbness from extreme cold, d) a Cleveland late night TV host from the 1960s named Ghoulardi, e) all of the above”.
