From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Taylor Swift has shared the colourful, star-studded video for her new single “You Need to Calm Down”.

Opening with Swift in a caravan that she later sets fire to, the video features a staggering array of her celebrity friends including Ellen DeGeneres, Laverne Cox, Ryan Reynolds, the Queer Eye cast, singer Hayler Kioko, and Katy Perry.

Also featured are Dexter Mayfield, Ciara, RuPaul, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Justin Mikita, Billy Porter, Adam Lambert, Todrick Hall, Chester Lockhart, Adam Rippon and Hannah Hart.

Watch the video below:

The group parties in a caravan park and ignore the homophobic protestors who look on waving placards.

Towards the end of the video, a food fight breaks out and Katy Perry appears in a burger costume similar to the one she wore to the 2019 Met Gala.

Swift, dressed as a carton of French fries, spots her and gives her a hug. The scene comes after the two pop stars squashed their long-running “beef”.

“You Need to Calm Down” is the second single from Swift’s forthcoming seventh album Lover, out 23 August via Republic records.
