Physical copies of new Taylor Swift album Reputation reportedly includes an “emotional letter” to her fans about the pitfalls of celebrity life.

The letter was only made available to fans who purchased hard copies of her sixth album from US record store Target after it was released on Friday (10 November).

Swift appeared to reference several issues in the open letter - titled 'Here's Something I've Learned About People'- including her famed feud with Kanye West.

“My mistakes have been used against me,” she wrote. “My heartbreaks have been used as entertainment, and my songwriting has been trivialised as ‘oversharing’.”

She continued: “Here’s something I’ve learned about people. We think we know someone, but the truth is that we only know the version of them they have chosen to show us,”

Addressing her celebrity lifestyle, the 27-year-old singer wrote: “This is the first generation that will be able to look back on their entire life story documented in pictures on the internet, and together we will all discover the after-effects of that.

“Ultimately we post photos online to curate what strangers think of us. But then we wake up, look in the mirror at our faces and see the cracks and scars and blemishes, and cringe.”

Elsewhere, she wrote: “I’ve been in the public eye since I was 15 years old. On the beautiful, lovely side of that, I’ve been so lucky to make music for a living and look out into crowds of loving, vibrant people.

“On the other side of the coin, my mistakes have been used against me, my heartbreaks have been used as entertainment, and my songwriting has been trivialised as ‘oversharing’.”

She caps the lengthy letter by writing: “Let me say it louder again, louder for those in the back ... We think we know someone, but the truth is that we only know the version of them they have chosen to show us.

“There will be no further explanation. There will just be reputation.”

Swift's latest album is reported to have sold over £700,000 since its release with sales set to exceed that of her previous record 1989 which dropped in 2014.

Fans have been attempting to decipher hidden messages featured within the new album's tracks with many picking up on potential references to West, former rival Katy Perry and actor Tom Hiddleston.
