The Scottish singer shot to international fame in 2009 while auditioning for the Simon Cowell talent show, where she sang a note-perfect rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables.
To mark the 11th anniversary of the performance, Boyle recreated it during a concert in Glasgow, and pulled out from storage the same dress she wore when her career was made.
“Deja vu?” a message on Boyle’s Instagram read. “11 years after her @bgt audition, Susan returned to the SEC Armadillo stage and donned the very dress she wore for that audition!
“Back for one night only, Susan surprised the audience with a quick change before her signature song, ‘I Dreamed a Dream’.”
The caption also confirmed that Boyle did “the Susan wiggle”, her trademark dance.
The SEC Armadillo is also the same location in which Boyle’s Britain’s Got Talent audition occurred, though it was then known as the Clyde Auditorium.
Boyle recently suggested that she may retire from performing in the near future and pursue acting.
In 2013, she cameoed as a singing churchgoer in the inspirational drama The Christmas Candle alongside Samantha Barks, Sylvester McCoy and Oscar nominee Lesley Manville. Asked about Boyle’s role in an interview, Manville called it “disturbing”.
