Shortly after finishing her performance alongside Coldplay and Bruno Mars for the Super Bowl 50 half time show, Beyoncé announced she will embark upon a worldwide stadium tour beginning this spring.

The Formation tour will see the singer play 40 shows split between North America, Canada, the US and the UK from April 27; the UK leg will commence at Wembley Stadium from mid-June, continuing well into July.

Beyoncé's appearance in the Super Bowl halftime show saw her sing the surprise new track - also titled "Formation" - she had dropped the day before (6 February).

The "Single Ladies" singer had been hotly tipped to perform alongside Coldplay on their song “Hymn for the Weekend” following her appearance in the video.

Beyoncé last toured with her 2013-2014 Mrs. Carter shows, several performances of which her husband Jay-Z joined her on stage for.

Tickets for the Formation tour will go on sale next week although there is no current word on pricing.
