Fans scrambled for tickets for the Friday 17 June and Saturday 18 June shows at 9.30am this morning and at around 10am, a post appeared on the band’s official Twitter feed announcing another gig on Sunday 19 June.
The three concerts will take place at the Eithad Stadium with supporting “special guests” yet to be confirmed.
Odds on The Stone Roses headlining Glastonbury Festival next year have been slashed, with the band already revealing that they will top the bill at T in the Park in July.
Insiders say that Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis has the band on his wish list and hopes to book them for the Pyramid Stage after failing to do so in recent years.
Frontman Ian Brown and his band almost headlined in 1995 but had to pull out after guitarist Jon Squire suffered a mountain bike accident.
Speculation of a reunion was first sparked by mysterious posters featuring their iconic lemon lego that popped up in Manchester shops last week.
