Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The Japanese House is among the latest additions to the Standon Calling 2019 lineup.

The artist, who recently released her debut album Good at Falling, joins a vibrant and diverse billing that includes headliners Nile Rodgers & Chic, Wolf Alice and Rag’n’Bone Man.

Also on the lineup are Roisin Murphy, Lewis Capaldi, Echo and the Bunnymen, Mahalia, IDLES, Sea Girls and The Big Moon. The festival takes place between 25 - 28 July.

Among the other recent additions is Annabel Allum, who returns from SXSW festival in Texas to perform at the stunning festival in Hertfordshire.

“I’m really excited to play Standon Calling,” she said. “I’ve always wanted to play and I’m excited to see The Big Moon play some new material. I’ve missed them! Other highlights will include the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Wolf Alice (of course) & my boys Honey Lung!”

Along with a stellar musical lineup, Standon is also offering family entertainment from Dick & Dom, and Mr Bloom & his Band. There will be late night takeovers plus a comedy roster including Russell Kane, Abandoman and Angela Barnes.
