From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. All five Spice Girls members have officially announced that they're working on "new opportunities" together after 18 years apart.
The news comes after Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Geri Horner, Melanie Brown and Melanie Chisholm reunited on Friday in London at Horner's home.
A spokesperson for the Spice Girls released an official statement confirming the women are officially reuniting saying they "enjoyed a wonderful afternoon catching-up" and "are overwhelmed by how much interest there is" for the band.
The statement then read, "The time now feels right to explore some incredible new opportunities together. We all agree that there are many exciting possibilities that will once again embrace the original essence of The Spice Girls, while reinforcing our message of female empowerment for future generations."
There is no confirmation, however, about whether or not this will include tour dates.
On Friday, Victoria Beckham was the first to share a photo of the women together saying, "Love my girls!!! So many kisses!!! X Exciting x #friendshipneverends #girlpower."
Horner also posted a message saying, "Lovely seeing the girls #girlpower is alive and well," and Bunton wrote, "Great to catch up with my girls", along with "the future is looking spicy!"
Rumours about the band reuniting have persisted over the past 20 years, but 2018 is a special year for the women: it's the 20th anniversary of their musical film Spice World.
It's also the last time the band was a five-piece.
Hopefully the group will end up doing some tour dates or releasing new music - even a limited run would be a great treat for their longtime fan base.
