From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The singer took to Twitter to reveal the news, alongside which she posted an 11-second preview of the track itself.
Titled "Reaper", this marks the second time the two have worked together following last year's collaboration on "Wolves", a song tipped to appear on West's upcoming album SWISH.
News of the single comes a few weeks ahead of the release of Sia's seventh record This Is Acting which comes out on 29 January.
40-year-old singer Sia – full name Sia Furler – released her debut album OnlySee back in 1997, but it wasn't until 2014 single "Chandelier" that the musician found a mainstream audience.
Kanye West's seventh studio album SWISH – his first since Yeezus – is expected to be released later this year. The rapper's full 'audition' for TV series American Idol was released earlier this week. It's one final stunt for the show which is coming to an end after 15 seasons.
"Reaper" will debut tomorrow (7 January).
