Singer Rita Ora was taken to hospital yesterday afternoon after collapsing during a photoshoot in Miami.

The 22-year-old London-born star fell ill on the set of Madonna's Material Girl clothing range campaign, which she was modelling for.

Shortly afterwards, she passed out and was carried from her make-up trailer into an ambulance on a stretcher.

Reports from TMZ claimed Dr David Farcy of Mount Sinai Hospital Miami had successfully treated her for heat exhaustion and dehydration.

"She was discharged and is fine," he told the entertainment website.

Before the shoot, the "How We Do" singer had tweeted her excitement, posting "Let's have this Miami - let the fun begin!" to nearly 3.5 million followers.

Ora was announced in June as the new face of Madonna's brand, replacing past icons Georgia May Jagger and Kelly Osbourne.

Madonna and her co-designer daughter Lourdes, 16, called the singer a "talented beauty" whose confidence and "unique sense of style" had inspired them.

"On stage or off, in photos or on the street, she's a magnet! This is what the Material Girl brand is all about," a statement read.

Illness has interrupted the Ora's engagements multiple times this year, after she was forced to cancel shows in August due to being hospitalised with a throat and lung infection.
