The “Work” singer’s latest track, co-written by Sia, is an intense emotional ballad that hears her roar “you’re just another brick and I’m a sledgehammer” in a soaring chorus.
Rihanna first hinted at the song after tweeting the lyrics in 2014, before posting a photo of her covered in sci-fi face paint on her Instagram at the weekend.
Star Trek Beyond, starring Idris Elba, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg and the late Anton Yelchin, arrives in UK cinemas on 22 July.
A dramatic new trailer featuring “Sledgehammer” was also released on Monday. “Let’s make some noise,” says a determined looking Kirk, before galactic explosions wreak havoc in space.
Star Trek Beyond sees the USS Enterprise Crew “explore the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy (Elba) who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test”.
The film also stars the late Anton Yelchin, who tragically died in a freak car accident at his Los Angeles home earlier this month.
