From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

TV host Richard Madeley said he thinks Liam and Noel Gallagher of Oasis robbed his home before the band formed.

The TV host made the claims while talking about Liam's win at last night's VO5 NME Awards on Good Morning Britain.

He said, “Him and his brother used to live quite close to us when we used to live in Manchester, and they admitted in the early stages of their career they did a little bit of robbery, a little bit of burglary and we think they did our house.”

Madeley had more to say about the incident - he even confronted the brothers about it.

“I spoke to them about it, and we spoke about it, it was many years ago and they’ve probably forgotten about it now and they said ‘Yeah I think we did that one yeah, I think we did that one, went in through the window yeah,'" he recalls.

This isn't the first time robberies and the Gallaghers have come up in the same sentence.

“We have burgled houses and nicked car stereos, and we like girls and swear and take the piss," Noel once quipped in an interview with Melody Maker.

Last night at the VO5 NME Awards, the brothers didn't seem to be banded by their Bonnie and Clyde days.

Liam took a jab at Noel comparing him to Donald Trump when asked about his biggest villain.

“Gotta be Noel,” Liam said. “I’m being serious. You’re laughing, but he’s worse than Kim-Jun fucking Tung or whatever he’s called.”

But he wasn't done dragging his brother adding, “And he’s worse than Donald Trump. He’s the biggest liar and biggest faker in the business, so yeah, him. He’s worse than Piers Morgan as well.”

If Madeley's story is confirmed, it would be interesting to hear which other homes the Gallagher brothers burglarised back in the day.
