Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Indie rockers Reverend And The Makers are hoping to score a hit after their track "Shine The Light" was chosen as the official anthem of the FA Cup.
The Sheffield group, who had a top 10 hit in 2007 with Heavyweight Champion Of The World, won a season-long Battle of the Bands competition with acts including The Enemy and Lethal Bizzle.
They will perform the track live at Saturday's cup final at Wembley.
Frontman Jon McClure said: "We said before this that we'd prefer our track to become the official FA Cup Anthem than to be a number one. It genuinely means that much to us, and we can't thank our fans and all the people who voted for us enough. For me, the only thing that would be better is if Sheffield Wednesday were to win the FA Cup next season - but I reckon we can settle for this now."
The winning track, which is already used as the signature tune on football simulation game Fifa 13, will be played throughout next season's competition.
