From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The singer-songwriter, who recently confirmed his comeback tour, will appear at 7.30pm on the Festival Republic Stage.
It has yet to be confirmed if he will appear at Reading’s sister festival Leeds on its matching line-up.
Jamie T simply tweeted to his 36,000 fans earlier this afternoon: “7.30pm – Reading Festival – Festival Republic Stage”.
He will be joining already-confirmed acts Catfish and the Bottlemen, The Orwells and Sweethead on the stage.
The singer announced his return to the music scene earlier this summer after a five year hiatus with two songs “Zombie” and “Don’t You Find”.
His forthcoming album Carry on The Grudge will be released on 29 September following his last album Kings and Queens in 2009.
The singer is set to start a 10-date UK tour at the end of October, performing in Bristol, Southampton, Norwich, Nottingham, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Birmingham and London.
Queens of the Stone Age, Paramore and Vampire Weekend are set to headline the main stage at Reading tonight.
