If there is anything as impressive as Prince's live performances, it's surely his extensive list of writing credits.

The beloved musician was responsible for penning a numerous number of songs that were made famous by other singers - one such track being "Nothing Compares 2 U", the Sinéad O'Connor version of which topped the charts in 1990.

In the wake of his death, a rare clip has surfaced showing the late superstar performing the song on stage.

It was the BBC that dusted off the footage, airing it on The One Show last night (22 April) in tribute.

Introduced by host Alex Jones and her co-presenter Craig Charles as Prince performing "one of his best-loved songs" with Rosie Gaines.

Prince died at the age of 57 on Thursday (21 April) at his Paisley Park recording studio. The news led to an outpouring of tributes from all over the world with fan tributes manifesting in the form of all-night street parties which were led by his birth city of Minneapolis.

"Nothing Compares 2 U" is just one of many songs the musician penned for other artists including Madonna and Cyndi Lauper.
