From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Prince estate has released the original recording of the 1984's "Nothing Compares 2 U."

The track version was shared on Thursday alongside previously unseen footage of Prince and the Revolution.

In 1990, "Nothing Compares 2 U" became a success for Sinéad O'Connor, but Prince originally penned the track for one of his projects, The Family.

The track was originally seen on the group's first album in 1985.

Prince's version of "Nothing Compares 2 U" mixes balladry with rough guitar riffs and the musician's soaring vocals.

"Nothing Compares 2 U" was recorded by Prince at the Flying Cloud Drive "Warehouse" in Eden Prairie, Minnesota with his engineer Susan Rogers.

The late icon penned, arranged and sang the track, doing everything for it but the backing vocals.

Susannah Melvoin and Paul "St. Paul" Peterson sang backing vocals, while Eric Leeds played saxophone for the song.

The "Nothing Compares 2 U" studio version is available for streaming and downloading through digital retailers.

On May 25, a seven-inch vinyl single will be released on Prince's "HtNRun" online store.
