From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The “Purple Rain” singer will take to the stage at Camden’s historic Roundhouse tomorrow with gigs starting at 5.30pm and 9.45pm. After 48 hours’ notice, tickets will go on sale from midday today.
Prince performed a run of UK shows last month in his first regional dates since 1995. The funk-rock icon took over intimate, legendary London and Manchester venues in February for spontaneous shows announced last minute on Twitter.
Arena gigs in Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and Leeds followed to widespread critical acclaim.
Last Sunday, Prince performed two sold-out concerts in one night in Paris, followed by an appearance in Brussels where three surprise gigs were put on in just five hours.
Prince has been mixing up his setlists to include both classic hits, brand new tracks and rarely-performed songs. He is accompanied by all-female band 3RDEYEGIRL, composing of guitarist Donna Grantis, bassist Ida Nielsen and drummer Hannah Ford-Welton, who are due to release their album PLECTRUMELECTRUM later this year.
