Pete Doherty thrown out of Thailand rehab facility
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Libertines and Babyshambles frontman had been at the Cabin in Chiang Mai for three weeks undergoing treatment for heroin and crack cocaine addiction.
Alastair Mordey, director of the £7,000 a month rehab centre, said: “Pete was discharged today for therapeutic reasons. It is important to maintain the integrity of the treatment programme for the other clients to have a good chance of recovery. Pete understands this and therefore the reasons behind why we have asked him to leave.”
He added that the Cabin’s “parting with Pete is amicable” and expressed his disappointment at seeing him leave.
The Cabin is one of Asia’s most prestigious drug and alcohol treatment centres, using a mixture of yoga, cognitive behavioural and other therapies to treat patients.
“We hope some of the things he has learnt here will help him in the future and look forward to the day when Pete decides to consider recovery again,” Mordey said.
The former boyfriend of model Kate Moss has been in rehab previously in 2003, 2006 and 2007.
Speaking to The Independent in February he said he was undergoing treatment at a walk-in centre in London.
