Tickets were handed out to the show at Liverpool's Cavern Club on a first come, first served basis with the 350-capacity venue filling up immediately.
The musician, 76, announced the exclusive show during a Q&A led by Jarvis Cocker at his old school with hundreds of fans queueing up in the early hours of yesterday morning in the hope of acquiring a ticket.
McCartney tore through a two-hour-plus set ranging from classic Beatles and Wings tracks - including "All My Loving," "Lady Madonna" and "Band on the Run" - to songs from his new solo record Egypt Station.
He ended with a rollicking triumvirate of tunes including "I Saw Her Standing There," "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" and White Album classic "Helter Skelter." You can find the full setlist below.
The original club - based on Liverpool's Mathew Street - closed in 1973 and, after being knocked down, was rebuilt using the same bricks. It's attributed with kick-starting The Beatles' meteoric rise with the band first performing there as The Quarrymen with drummer Pete Best before the days of Ringo Starr.
Earlier this week, McCartney recreated the legendary Abbey Road album cover almost 49 years after it was first taken with the musician surprising fans at the St John's Wood location in London as he walked across the iconic crossing with his suit jacket draped over his shoulder.
McCartney recently joined James Corden for a heartfelt edition of 'Carpool Karaoke' which saw the duo hit the streets of Liverpool where the singer revisited key locations that inspired several classic Beatles tracks.
The singer-songwriter recently announced huge stadium shows in the UK including dates in London and Liverpool.
