Paramore's Hayley Williams has hit out at boyband One Direction for allegedly plagiarising a New Found Glory song.
The frontwoman, 26, posted a series of tweets accusing the pop group of ripping off 2006 single "It's Not Your Fault" for their new track "Steal My Girl".
"Beginning of that new 1D song couldn't sound any more like the beginning of New Found Glory's 'It's Not Your Fault'," she wrote.
"I realise that I'm gonna get hate from a very large fanbase for that, but really, it has more to do with whoever pitched or co-wrote the song."
Williams has been dating New Found Glory's guitarist and principal composer Chad Gilbert since 2008.
Gilbert also noted the similarities between the two songs' piano hooks, patterns and melodies on Twitter, but soon stopped commenting, possibly after suffering a deluge of attacks from devoted Directioners.
"Props to the One Direction 'Steal My Girl' single for reworking the 'It's Not Your Fault' piano part into a Top 40 single. Let me get a cut," he wrote, before backtracking and dismissing his post as "a joke".
In fact, as Spin points out, both songs seem to be inspired by Journey's 1985 arena rock hit "Faithfully", but it remains unknown whether New Found Glory or One Direction are aware of this.
