From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Ozzy Osbourne has confirmed he has not separated from his wife Sharon after internet rumours reported the pair had split up.

The Black Sabbath singer posted to his Facebook page to clear up speculation surrounding his 31-year marriage.

“Just to set the record straight, Sharon and I are not divorcing. I’m just trying to be a better person,” he said.

“For the last year and a half I have been drinking and taking drugs. I was in a very dark place and was an asshole to the people I love most, my family. However, I am happy to say that I am now 44 days sober.

“I would like to apologize to Sharon, my family, my friends and my band mates for my insane behavior during this period………and my fans,” he said.

Popular showbiz gossip website Perez Hilton reported yesterday that the couple had “split-up for real”, while The Mirror also published a story about the couple’s separation.

Jack Osbourne tweeted in response to the coverage: “It’s all bullshit. Last time I check a lot of British news papers (sic) weren’t amazing sources of accurate information. Moving on…”

Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne rose to international fame after their reality TV show “The Osbournes”, which starred two of their children Kelly and Jack. Sharon has since made regular appearances as a judge on The X Factor US and UK.
