Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.OUTLYA are a three-piece indie-pop band who caught our attention last year with their brilliant EP Volcano - they make super-catchy, arena-sized pop that recalls the likes of Coldplay, Bastille and Imagine Dragons.
Following festival appearances at Reading & Leeds and The Great Escape, plus support slots for the likes of Norwegian pop artist Dagny and the great Maggie Rogers, they're sharing their infectious new single "White Light" which you can listen to first via The Independent.

Q&A with OUTLYA
What are you listening to at the moment?
There is so much good music out at the moment - we're loving all the new releases from Submotion Orchestra, Janelle Monáe and Superorganism. Our friend Westerman is putting out some of our favourite music at the moment. His new song 'Confirmation' is an absolute triple threat: an incredibly catchy hook, some lush production by Bullion & a mesmerising video directed by another amazingly talented friend Jonjo Lowe - a must watch.
What are your plans for 2018?
Aside from releasing our new single White Light - we're heading out on our first ever headline tour around the UK (13th – 23rd March) and then lots more writing, recording and some festivals to get us out of the house & keep us sane.
What was the first gig you ever played and what’s been the best so far?
Our first ever show was supporting James Bay at an acoustic gig for Wateraid at Hoxton Hall. We hadn’t put out any music, still hadn’t fully settled on a name or what songs to play and yet somehow it wasn’t a total disaster? Everyone was very nice about it. Our favourite show to date was supporting Maggie Rogers at The Electric in Brixton - it was the hottest day of the year with no air conditioning but the crowd were so exited to see her and she was an absolute pro and put on an amazing show. She's incredibly talented & gracious too - overall a dream gig, take us back!
'White Light', the new single from OUTLYA, is out on Friday 16 March
