The boy band earned a combined equivalent of £93 a minute last year thanks to their world tour, film and latest album.
Accounts filed by the band’s 1D Media Ltd with Companies House in the UK show Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne each paid themselves a salary of £5.6 million.
Over 90 per cent of the band’s £49 million income came from the UK, and did not include earnings from the US.
Each member owns a fifth of 1D Media Ltd, which is one of four UK firms set up by the band.
One Direction’s income has more than doubled since 2012, when they earned £18 million.
The band, who finished third on The X Factor in 2010, have won legions of fans worldwide since their time on the show.
They were named the third richest musicians under 30 by the Sunday Times earlier this month, with estimated earnings of £14 million each.
Their third album Midnight Memories, released in November last year, sold 4 million copies in six weeks and went on the become the biggest selling album of 2013.
Their latest single, “Steal My Girl” has entered the Official Singles Chart at number three.
