From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Bandmember Louis Tomlinson said in an interview: “We’ve already started recording the album, we started about a month ago. We’ve been writing and recording it while on tour. We are really happy with it. We don’t want to rush it but it will be out for Christmas.”
The boy band have been recording the new album, a follow-up to Up All Night and Take Me Home, in their hotel rooms while on tour. Its release will follow their 3D documentary film This is Us, which is to hit cinemas this summer.
“We have the film coming out as well so we are all pretty shattered but we are all having a great time,” added Louis.
A source close to the band told the Daily Star Sunday that the third album was going to be released next year, but was decided to be brought forward due to the band’s popularity.
“The band are going from strength to strength and so it would be silly not to have an album out in time for the profitable Christmas market. All the lads are incredibly hardworking and career minded. Although they are knackered, they all love what they are doing,” said the source.
